TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - National Travel and Tourism Week kicked off Monday and Topeka is celebrating in many ways this week. Throughout the day Tuesday, Greater Topeka Partnership is hosting a "Know Your City Training at sites including the Children's Discovery Center, Topeka Zoo, a tour at the Kansas capitol dome, Hazel Hill Chocolate Traditions and Evel Knievel Museum. The organization said tourism spending supports 3,482 jobs and represents 5% of all employment in Shawnee County. For more information on events this week CLICK HERE

We've already presented some of the stunning early entries to the 2018 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year Contest in the Nature categoryNow we can reveal the incredible portraits and action shots of people from around the world that have been submitted in the People category. And they include an incredible look at locals and travelers in the likes of Cuba, Bangladesh, India, Portugal and beyond. One of the category winners will be named the overall grand-prize winner and receive $10,000, have his or her photo posted on the @NatGeoTravel Instagram account and earn the title of National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year. The other two category winners will each be awarded $2,500. Contestants can visit the National Geographic website to submit their best photos in any or all of the three categories.
