Two airlines said this morning that they are ending travel partnerships with the National Rifle Association amidst a greater public backlash against the organization. Similarly, United Airlines tweeted that it will no longer offer its special rate for the meeting and also requested that it be removed from the travel website. Unlike other organizations that have severed ongoing partnerships with the NRA, the airlines were offering one-off travel discounts for group members.
Delta, United ending group travel discount for NRA members
- Delta and United Airlines have announced that they are ending a discount for NRA members that made it cheaper for them to fly to the group's annual convention. In a tweet sent early Saturday morning, Delta said that it will be ending its contract that provided discounted rates for NRA members "through our group travel program." Delta is reaching out to the NRA to let them know we will be ending their contract for discounted rates through our group travel program. Rental car company Hertz will no longer offer a discount program to NRA members and First National Bank of Omaha said it will not renew a co-branded credit card it has with the NRA. As of this report, Delta and United's information was still on the NRA's travel website.
United Airlines ends discount for travel to NRA annual meeting
As it stated in United Airlines announced Saturday that it would eliminate a discount program for the National Rifle Association (NRA), following in the footsteps of competitor Delta Airlines and a host of other companies that have cut ties with the gun group in recent days. In a statement posted to its Twitter account, United said it would no longer offer a discounted rate for NRA members traveling to their annual meeting.
