(WBNG) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a travel advisory and banned tractor trailers on several roadways Wednesday morning in advance of the storm. According to a release the travel advisory is in effect for all areas east of I-81. Tractor Trailers will be banned on the New York State thruway from exit 36 in Syracuse to the New York City Line. All motorists are encouraged avoid travel as much as possible and if travel is necessary, do so using extreme caution." Authorities say New York State Police will strictly enforce the ban, and will stop and ticket anyone who is in violation.

A ban on tractor trailers on certain roadways will also be in effect beginning at 8 a.m. on March 7. Motorists are reminded that State Law mandates that if an intersection is "blacked out" and the traffic signal is not operational, the intersection is automatically a "four way" stop.
