Madison County issues travel advisory until Thursday morning

WSYR-TV - Madison County has issued a travel advisory until early Thursday morning. The Sheriff's Office has issued the advisory as heavy wet snow is expected to continue throughout the evening and overnight hours. High winds are expected to create hazardous white out conditions and drifting snow especially in the higher elevations and on secondary roads. The Sheriff's Office is urging drivers to use caution on the roads. The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. on March 15.

MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A travel advisory has been issued for Madison County through Thursday morning at 6 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff's Office said. Eight to 12 inches of heavy wet snow is expected to fall through the evening and overnight hours, the sheriff's office said. In addition, high winds could create white-out conditions in higher elevations and on secondary roads, the sheriff's office said. Travel was encouraged to be prudent and the sheriff's office urged drivers to prepare for emergencies with extra blankets, flashlights, food, water and a charged cell phone.

Cortland County issues travel advisory through Thursday morning

as declared in CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A travel advisory was issued for Cortland County through Thursday at 6 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. Approximately 4 to 8 inches of snow are expected to fall in most areas with 10 inches expected to fall in higher terrain, south of Interstate 90, according to the National Weather Service. Snow and winds are expected to make driving difficult in Cortland County, according to the sheriff's office. The advisory does not restrict travel, the sheriff's office said.
